The other day, I was walking down the cereal aisle and I realized my poor, deprived children have never experienced the cereal, Rice Krispies. Growing up, my dad called this the junk food cereal so we only ate it once in a while. I decided to make them. They taste as good as I remembered. The kids loved it too!
The Original Rice Krispies Treats
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 package marshmallows (about 40)
- 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Melt butter in pan and the marshmallows until melted. Stir in the cereal.
Quickly transfer the mixture into a well greased baking dish. I suggest along narrow one. You may need 2 of these depending on how thick you want them.
After about 6 minutes, flip the dish over onto some wax paper and let it cool some more. Once it is hard, cut into squares.
