First, remove the pits from the cherries. Set them aside.
In a large pot, add the ingredients in EXCEPT the cherries and liquor. Bring to a slight boil and stir.
Then add the cherries and Luxardo liquor and let it simmer in the pot until the cherries are a little tender.
Set it aside and let the cherries cool.
If you are going to can this (which I hope you would), then break out the jars and get ready to can!
