Home-Made Luxardo Maraschino Cherries


  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 5 sticks of Grade A vanilla bean
  • 4 sticks of cinnamon
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 cups Luxardo cherry liquor
  • 4 pound cherries (pitted)
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice


  1. First, remove the pits from the cherries. Set them aside.

  2. In a large pot, add the ingredients in EXCEPT the cherries and liquor. Bring to a slight boil and stir.

  3. Then add the cherries and Luxardo liquor and let it simmer in the pot until the cherries are a little tender.

  4. Set it aside and let the cherries cool.

  5. If you are going to can this (which I hope you would), then break out the jars and get ready to can!
